Building on your new understanding of disk and RAID we will apply that knowledge to understanding Storage Area Networks and Network Attached Storage. This could be in the form of a traditional SAN attached via Fibre Channel or newer iSCSI attached storage across your regular IP network. SAN’s and NAS’s have their own challenges but also open up a whole new set of tools for disaster recovery and high availability. We will touch on the basics that can be applied to most SAN’s and talk about strategies for setting up your storage.
