Overview
We discussed briefly in the architecture chapter that the Power BI mobile app is used to consume mobile reports. This also raises a curiosity that if the Power BI mobile app is used to consume SSRS Mobile reports, then why not use Power BI itself for authoring reports and consume them in a mobile app. It's important to understand the use case for Power BI and Mobile Report Publisher. In this section we will briefly discuss this.

Below is a comparison of features supported by Power BI and Mobile Report Publisher.
Power BI as well as SSRS Mobile reports both can be accessed with the Power BI Mobile App.
If you analyze the above features supported by Power BI vs. Mobile Publisher, you can derive that when cost is a concern and the requirement is to have more design control for mobile and tablet based reporting without any data readiness, then Mobile Report Publisher is a more suitable option.
When it comes to more data control, support for custom and complex visualization and cloud based pricing model, then Power BI would be the right candidate.
