If I am a SQL Server DBA, do you recommend taking this exam?
Yes, many SQL Server DBAs must deal with some SharePoint tasks and some SharePoint administrators need to deal with SQL Server, because SharePoint stores information in SQL Server.
Also, when using Reporting Services, it is possible to install it in SharePoint Integrated mode instead of SSRS native mode as shown below.
Who should take this exam?
This exam is oriented to SharePoint Administrators, SharePoint Developers, DBAs, IT Administrators interested in the SharePoint platform.
Is this exam a requirement for any certification?
This exam is optional to get the MCSE Productivity Solutions Expert certification. Note that the MCSE: SharePoint Solution Expert was retired as of March 31, 2017.
Is the exam easy?
No. This exam is very difficult because you need to read a lot, have knowledge about Office, Office 365, PowerShell, SQL Server, Exchange, Project Server and other technologies to integrate with SharePoint.
What is the relationship between SharePoint Server 2016 and SQL Server?
To install SharePoint 2016, you need at least SQL Server 2014 to install it. A good SharePoint Administrator must have good knowledge of SQL Server. If you work with Reporting Services, it is a great idea to deploy the reports in SharePoint because it is a better way to share the report to the entire company using the portal.
